masterplancI know many people have converted to a “digital” diary but I find that there is nothing like writing it all down and having it all there in front of you in black & white or in my case grey and white!

For me when my diary is new I take great pleasure in the actual writing down of things – that is when it is still nice and tidy. That seems to deteriorate rapidly and is possibly why last year I wrote in pencil!

Aside from enjoying the writing I also think the physical act of writing appointments/notes/to do etc down makes me remember things better.

My diary of choice for the past two years has been The Master Plan, designed and published by Milestone Press and which we sell in the shop. The concept behind it is that it is for a parent  – for their own appointments/schedule and to keep track of all the activities that each of their children and family are taking part in. I had seen wall calendars for a similar purpose before but not an actual diary that you could carry around with you. Now I don’t have any children but use the extra rows for other parts of my life – shop staff schedule, important financial/tax dates, shop events and so on.

The colours change each year – I went with grey this year as it is one of my “corporate” colours. Team it with a pen loop and you’re set. I highly recommend it!

moosebBrepols is a Belgian company that has been making diaries and journals in the same location for over 200 years. Don’t assume their products are oldie worldie as a result though. On the contrary. The company has a decidedly young attitude, producing ranges that honour the past whilst being firmly focused on the future.

Their Moose range is made of recycled leather combined with cream coloured FSC paper inners, allowing you to comfortably mix style and still maintain an awareness of the environment.

Relaxed. Headstrong. Confident. Moose was the winner of “Best New Product” at the International Stationery Press Association awards for social stationery in 2012.

Not generally a fan of brown, this product won my heart with it’s cool look and feel and knew that many of our customers would feel the same – and you have!

We are carrying the entire range – notebooks, compendiums and 2014 diaries.

pinklamyLamy do limited edition “colour” releases of their Safari pens each year. This year  (2013) we have the neon yellow – which I cannot say I am much of a fan of, but we had to get our hands on some of the bright pink which they re-released due to popular demand. I must confess to having gone through a very pink phase several years ago – I still have pink golf clubs, complete with pink golf balls! As a friend says look good, feel good, play good. I think the same could be true of a pen – look good, feel good, write well! I’ll find any excuse for a new pen though!!
