on the desk in … |6| navy blue

Regular visitors to the shop will know that I am normally dressed head to toe in black. My rationale for this is that then I blend in and let the beautiful colours in the shop shine through. Lately though quite a number of navy blue items have been added to my wardrobe. I find it an elegant colour and navy stationery is most certainly elegant. Below is a selection of navy blue items we have in store.

If you asked what the most popular colour in the shop is, turquoise would definitely be near the top of the list. Turquoise ink is certainly in the top five of the 30 J.Herbin colours. Of the four College City roller ball/fountain pen colours turquoise is the absolute winner and in the Ogami stone paper notebook range the turquoise gives the black a run for it’s money as the favourite.  My pick of items below – the leather pencil case. Such a gorgeous shade of turquoise. I love the Leuchtturm journals too!

on the desk in … |3| yellow

I think if you asked any retailer they would tell you that yellow is not generally a colour that sells well. Certain items we have in yellow are quite popular however. The yellow Lamy Safari pens and mechanical pencils fly out the door. They are a shade of yellow much like a Ferrari – perhaps that’s the appeal! Yellow tags and matching Divine Twine are also regularly purchased.

Van Gogh said, “How wonderful yellow is. It stands for the sun.” Let’s hope this brings the sun out.

According to Color : Messages and Meanings by Leatrice Eiseman for Pantone orange is fun, whimsical, childlike, happy, glowing, hot, energising, active, gregarious, friendly, good natured, expansive spontaneous, optimistic, communicative, jovial, socialable, self-assured, persuasive, animated, loud, raucous and frivolous. Personally I am not that fond of orange the fruit, even less of orange juice. When it comes to orange the colour, I don’t dislike it but it is a telling sign that I could count the things I own that are orange on one hand! We have some beautiful orange products in the shop though!!
