Valentines Day is fast approaching.
Some people love it, many people hate it.
For me I find it a nice opportunity to stop and write an “i love you” card to my man!
I think sometimes we express ourselves better in writing than in saying things out loud. I know I do! Plus they get to keep the card/letter and will be forever reminded of how much we love them.
Case in point – I was practising some calligraphy recently and wrote a cute little message to Mr M and stuck it to his bathroom mirror, for him to find when he brushed his teeth. He liked it so much it’s still there!
I encourage you to put pen to paper this Valentines Day.

I know many people have converted to a “digital” diary but I find that there is nothing like writing it all down and having it all there in front of you in black & white or in my case grey and white!
For me when my diary is new I take great pleasure in the actual writing down of things – that is when it is still nice and tidy. That seems to deteriorate rapidly and is possibly why last year I wrote in pencil!
Aside from enjoying the writing I also think the physical act of writing appointments/notes/to do etc down makes me remember things better.
My diary of choice for the past two years has been The Master Plan, designed and published by Milestone Press and which we sell in the shop. The concept behind it is that it is for a parent – for their own appointments/schedule and to keep track of all the activities that each of their children and family are taking part in. I had seen wall calendars for a similar purpose before but not an actual diary that you could carry around with you. Now I don’t have any children but use the extra rows for other parts of my life – shop staff schedule, important financial/tax dates, shop events and so on.
The colours change each year – I went with grey this year as it is one of my “corporate” colours. Team it with a pen loop and you’re set. I highly recommend it!
Isn’t this a cutie? I had not seen a small twin inkwell like this before so jumped at the chance to add it to my collection. And it is more or less square so it fits in with the underlying “theme” of the collection. Funnily enough since purchasing it I have seen two other twin inkwells. One identical to this and possibly in even better condition, the other a rather large more industrial number. I haven’t of course ruled out adding them to the collection so watch this space! Hopefully they will still be there if I decide I must have them!!
Possibly my second favourite colour – green. Available in so many shades. Lime would be my pick but the more muted tones of these products we have in store is rather lovely.
1 & 2. Clairefontaine leather pencil cases 3. Fringe jounral 4. Campus fountain pen 5. J. Herbin ink cartridges 6. Vision fountain pen 7 & 8. Clairefontaine journals 9. Piccolo pen
One would think that there would be quantities of Ds in the signs of Devonport. Whilst there were many, most of them where not particularly noteworthy. Here are my favourites.
