neoncoralLamy Safari & AL-Star limited edition colours 2014.

We are very excited to have in store the 2014 limited edition colours from Lamy.  We anticipate the arrival of these each year, as do many of our customers. They’re on display in out front windows this month.

This year the Safari limited edition colour is a very with it neon coral. I have to say it is nice to have a bit more of a feminine colour in the range. I have yet to add one to my pencil case and I had better be quick if I want to as we don’t have many left. How many fountain pens can one girl have though!?!

I know there are people around the globe who have collections of all the Lamy colours. I am as you know an avid collector but I have at this stage not joined this group. I did pick up a very pretty white Safari with red clip on our recent trip to Japan though. I dad not seen that one before and could not resist. The white Safari is my favourite of the current colours, so one with a clip in my favourite colour, I had to have one. I have put red ink cartridges in it and use it to make doing paper work more bearable.

bluegreenThe Al-Star colour for 2014 is being called BlueGreen. I think most would agree though that it is more green than blue. It is a nice fresh colour and must be popular as we have been notified that we can not get more stock of that colour. So if you want one – come in sooner rather than later. We still have some for now.

Don’t forget that we offer you your choice of nib for the Lamy Safari and Al-Star fountain pens. The nib options are extra-fine, fine, medium, bold & left hand, all of which are available in either polished steel or black chromium-plated steel.

Isn’t it funny but we’re already wondering what next year’s colours will be!

in ink |2|

herbinanniversaryCThese gorgeous ink bottles would look good on any desk. They are the “1670” anniversary inks from J. Herbin, produced to celebrate their 340 year anniversary.

J.Herbin was established in 1670 in Paris. Ink production started during the First French Empire, with the ink being used by Napoleon Bonaparte and then by his son the King of Rome. During the 19th century Herbin participated in many exhibitions and in 1823 he was awarded in London for the exceptional quality of his inks and waxes.

Today Herbin inks are still widely used and internationally renowned and we are proud to stock them at FitzgeraldTaylor.

Beautifully presented there are two colours in the “1670” collection.

SONY DSCRouge Hermatite – a dark red with an earthy tone. A reminder of the historic colour of the Herbin logo and sealing wax used by members of the royal court. This rich deep dye ink will bring brightness and majesty to your writing!

SONY DSCBleu ocean – a deep blue that recalls the sea voyages of J. Herbin when he was travelling in the far east and discovered the famous gum which allowed him to manufacture wax.

We have them available in store now.

A baby blue Imperial Mercury Portable! Who could resist adding this cute little number to the collection?!?

A little research has shown that these typewriters although branded Imperial, were actually manufactured by Silver-Seiko in Japan. Silver-Seiko made these machines for Litton Industries who owned both Royal and Imperial and this model, the Mercury can be found branded both Royal and Imperial, and then later they carried the name Silver-Reed.

The Mercury was apparently a more expensive version that had some added features, a touch regulator and ribbon selector. Made between 1965 and 1974 these are solid little machines of metal construction and mine is in excellent condition, complete with carry case.

I think we will have to put some of my typewriters on display at the shop. I can imagine this one with some G.Lalo Verge writing paper in turquoise inserted in it.

PS – Do you like my matching finger nail polish in the photograph???

legatoreLeuchttrum1917 of Germany recently added a new coloured storage range “Legatore” to their product offering and we are pleased to be stocking it at FitzgeraldTaylor. We had been looking for a quality storage range for some time so were delighted to see the introduction of this collection. If you are looking to  organise your office / workspace this could be for you.

The range consists of lever arch files, magazine files, an expanding file and storage boxes in several sizes.

Available in lime, cornflower blue, pink, taupe and black there is sure to be a colour to suit most colour schemes.

And of course there are matching journals and diaries from Leuchtturm1917 for those who like me like to have everything matching!

well, well, well |5|

colouredcI have been wanting to add some coloured glass ink wells to the collection for some time so I was most excited to come across these too little cuties recently. And how perfect – red and green – FitzgeraldTaylor colours!

One would assume that ink that matched the colour of the glass was put in each well. Well that’s what I would do anyway!

on the desk in … |5| turquoise

If you asked what the most popular colour in the shop is, turquoise would definitely be near the top of the list. Turquoise ink is certainly in the top five of the 30 J.Herbin colours. Of the four College City roller ball/fountain pen colours turquoise is the absolute winner and in the Ogami stone paper notebook range the turquoise gives the black a run for it’s money as the favourite.  My pick of items below – the leather pencil case. Such a gorgeous shade of turquoise. I love the Leuchtturm journals too!
